WHO IS THAT GIMELLI GUY?
Elián Gimelli is a German-Italian cinematographer born in the Canary Islands.
He grew up shooting skate, surf and parkour — until parkour hit back and broke a few bones. That’s when he shifted from being in front of the action to shaping how it’s seen.
He trained at Instituto del Cine Canarias, while working his way through small sets as a junior DP.
Now based in Barcelona, he shoots music videos, commercials and short films — mostly as a cinematographer, sometimes blurring the line as a Director/DP hybrid.
WHAT´S THE MOOD HERE?
Mostly dark, messy and imperfect, but still controlled and intentional — balancing clean digital capture with in-camera texture to bring character into the image.
Shifting between a clean, precise digital approach for commercial work and a more instinctive, risk-driven eye when there’s space for authorship.
